Desert Lake 03:55

Desert Lake is a song about the badlands every artist needs to cross while they do their work. It was loosely inspired by the Henry James quote “We work in the dark, we do what we can, we give what we have. Our doubt is our passion and our passion is our task. The rest is the madness of art.” - This means that no matter how beautiful it is to create things, it will forever come with doubt. A fear that someone else is better, that you can do better, a fear that everything you do is worthless. Your task as an artist is to work through that and to not let it distract you. Desert Lake was written as a kind of soundtrack to a non-existent movie about someone who mysteriously disappeared in that madness of art.
